On April 2, 2014, the military base at Fort Hood in Texas was torn apart by the second mass casualty shooting in five years. Three people, plus the shooter, died and 16 people sustained injuries.

100% of the funds received through the National Compassion Fund will be distributed directly to victims. Donations to the Fund are held separately from general donations to the National Center for Victims of Crime.
